Halinisa is more than a period tracker. It is a comprehensive decision-support product that grounds Muslim women's biological cycles in a solid fiqh foundation.
We shaped the project with our own fiqh research and brand strategy. The Educated Brothers team brought this vision to life on the technical side, taking on the software and web development processes.
We designed the app to enter the market with an MVP that covers the most critical fiqh-based calculations, the distinction between hayız and istihaze, and builds a trustworthy foundation. The core stays free and ad-supported. Value-added features such as partner tracking and advanced analytics roll out in later versions, step by step. The result is a strategic product process that turns complex religious rulings into a clean user experience backed by warm character design.
Mainstream period tracking apps stop at biological cycle prediction and health data. Halinisa goes further. It processes the same data with Hanafi school methodology and clarifies the user's daily worship obligations, such as prayer and fasting.
For Muslim women, distinguishing menstruation (hayız) from irregular bleeding (istihaze) is critical to the validity of religious practice. Yet applying the complex calculations found in classical works, with variables like bleeding duration, interruption cases and previous cycle patterns, causes serious confusion in daily life, especially with irregular cycles.
Halinisa answers this need by simplifying these fiqh algorithms through a digital interface. We positioned it not as a fatwa authority but as a tracking and decision-support tool that helps put fiqh into practice.
We built Halinisa's strategy on one principle. Combine fiqh depth with technological simplicity and turn it into a trustworthy, sustainable user experience. The long-term vision is a holistic Islamic assistant with pregnancy tracking, postnatal (nifas) tracking, fasting and a full worship planner. To establish technical accuracy and user trust first, we drew clear boundaries:
In the design process we blended the weight of classical fiqh knowledge with the friendly dynamics of a modern mobile app. The balance sits between the seriousness of fiqh topics and a warm digital experience that never tires the user.
We crafted the app's text and guidance language as a "sister's voice". It preserves seriousness but never feels distant. The approach parallels the teaching, explaining and simplifying style found in Imam al-Mawsili's works.
The narrative stays clear and free of technical terms. Even amid the most complex irregularities, users find answers within seconds to questions like "Can I pray?" or "Can I fast?".
We designed every screen around one question. What is my status right now?
This strategy lifts Halinisa beyond a data-entry tool. It becomes a modern, aesthetic digital assistant where users manage their worship life with confidence.

Once the design phase closed and development began, we shifted focus to the marketing and content strategies that grow the project's digital visibility and user reach.
Halinisa fills one of the largest technical gaps in Muslim women's worship life by joining traditional fiqh knowledge with modern technology.
Halinisa is a bridge that carries the legacy of Imam al-Mawsili, Imam Birgivi and Imam al-Sarakhsi into the digital age. Our strategy and design, combined with Educated Brothers' technical strength, built a trustworthy technological safe harbor for the modern Muslim woman's fiqh sensitivities.
